The sculpture, entitled "This is the Very Place" serves as a visual reminder of the founding
of Loma Linda University.

Ellen G. White, a pioneer of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and strong supporter of a healthy lifestyle, first arrived to Loma Linda on June 12, 1905. She and her son, William Clarence White came by wagon from Redlands. They met with John Burden, who two weeks prior, put a $1,000 deposit down on the property.
While touring the grounds, Ellen turn to her son and said “Willie, I have been here before” He responded, “No Mother. You have never been here before”. Although Ellen White had never been to Loma Linda, she recognized the property from a vision she had four years before. “Then this is the very place the Lord has shown me, for it is all familiar.”
The new sculpture is located at a majestic spot atop Nichol Hall hill.
